Many HTM and clinical engineering teams support ultrasound equipment long after FDA clearance yet rarely see how 510(k) requirements—particularly acoustic output testing—directly affect service quality, safety, and compliance. This session provides a practical overview of the 510(k) clearance process as it relates to ultrasound probes and system components, with a behind-the-scenes look at evaluation, testing, repair, and refurbishment workflows

Attendees will gain insight into how quantitative acoustic testing supports compliant probe repair, reduces “no problem found” events, and mitigates regulatory and patient risk. The session includes a tour of Acertara’s probe repair and FDA-accredited acoustic power testing laboratories, connecting FDA expectations to real-world HTM service decisions.
